Abstract

Current management of educational institutions has undergone a professionalisation which could not have been predicted. It is known that the productivity of the institution will be increased by managers who are integrated in the institution, who are aware of their duties and responsibilities and who are motivated to undertake the work in all senses. The performance of these educational institutions at the highest level requiring close following of innovations due to continuously changing technology and human relations at the highest level, is closely related to management performance and is known to increase the productivity of the educational institution.
Although educational establishments have a complex organisation structure, because they are managed by administrators with different attributes and erudition, the motivating factors for managers may change according to the individual.
In this study it was researched whether or not there was any difference between managers working in state and private sector educational institutions in the context of various motivating factors. The study was conducted by completion of a questionnaire in a face-to-face interview with 341 educational administrators in 162 state and private educational institutions in the province of Bursa.
