Abstract

The violin has a very complex playing technique. Sounds with different timbres are obtained through the movements of the right and left hands, which are independent of each other but in cooperation with each other. In order to master the many techniques of both hands, systematic study is essential. It is very difficult to obtain a quality and qualified sound from the violin. Therefore, violin education is a long and challenging process. The systematic and purposeful progress of this education is essential for success. Hundreds of composers, pedagogues, and performers have worked for perfect performances for centuries. Countries have developed their own violin-playing schools. One of the most important people in this process is the Italian composer and performer Niccolo Paganini. According to many sources, Niccolo Paganini is one of the most important virtuoso composers in the history of the violin. His violin performance has sometimes been described as superhuman or demonic due to his technical capacity far above the period he lived in. He has inspired musicians with his compositions and technique for centuries. Niccolo Paganini left a comprehensive legacy of works for the benefit of violinists today, but the method of 24 caprices among his works is one of the most performed. The method of 24 caprices is one of the highest-level works of the violin repertoire in terms of right- and left-hand techniques. Each caprice is among the works performed by violin players in professional violin training schools during their education. Each of these caprices has contributed to the performers’ technical and musical abilities. A conscious study of the caprices through preliminary examination will increase the success rate. In this study, the caprice numbered 24 in the work titled Paganini's 24 Caprices was analyzed technically and musically. Technical elements were prioritized, and study suggestions were made. The purpose of these suggestions is to give an idea of how the performance of the work can be perfected. The study was limited to Paganini's Caprice Number 24. The findings were formed as a result of the literature review and the analyses made on the caprice
