Abstract

Nowadays, when we are living in the age of information, communication, and technology, thanks to the Internet, the boundaries of communication have disappeared, and it has become quite easy to access information and documents all over the world. The graphic design and advertising sectors have been affected by these developments, which are referred to as the digital revolution. As a result of this effect, graphic design has been carried out computer-aided for the last 30 years.  Graphic designers have become using computers and the Internet almost every minute that they perform their profession. Before the design process starts, preliminary research can be done on the subject to be designed via the Internet and information can be obtained. However, the history, visual identity, and design details of other companies, institutions, and organizations operating in the same sector or service area can be accessed within a few seconds. These developments are very useful for designers who want to produce original works and want to differentiate themselves from other designs, as well as pave the way for copying, imitation, and plagiarism to be realized. In this study, it was examined whether the Metro Istanbul logo made in 2016 is an imitation of the metro logo in Sofia, Bulgaria and whether there is a plagiarism situation.
