Abstract

Various measures are taken in many areas in order to combat the Covid-19 virus, which is defined as a global epidemic, and to prevent its spread. After the health sector, the area where the fastest transformation should be made is seen as the education sector. In order to prevent the spread, education has been suspended at all levels since the day the epidemic was seen in Turkey. After this break, the current education system was quickly adapted to distance education, allowing students to continue their education online. 8 million of the 25 million students affected by this process in Turkey are university students.
Generation Z, which constitutes a significant portion of university students, is more prone to technological devices and applications to be used in online education systems compared to other generations. This is because Generation Z was born into a digital world and they communicate mostly through networks.
In this study, it is aimed to discuss the online education perspectives of Generation Z, who mostly prefer mediated communication methods in the field of communication, through learning motivations, barriers to online education and the adequacy of interaction in online education.
For this purpose, the purpose and basic questions of the research were tried to be answered by applying the survey method as a data collection method for a descriptive research on the perspective of the Z Generation on distance education during the Covid-19 pandemic period.
The results of the survey conducted with the students of the Radio and Television Technologies Program of Istanbul University- Cerrahpaşa Vocational School of Technical Sciences are important in terms of revealing the Z generation university students' perspectives on online education with their reasons
