Abstract

Movements in economic, social, and political fields in contemporary society has led to differences in family and marital relations. Many differences such as increasing divorces, spread of alternative relationships to marriage, having children out of wedlock, child-centered life building, relative relaxation of legal restrictions on LGBT individuals to marry and have children, the increase of single parent families, late marriages, cohabitation without marriage that could be enumerated, points to disparities of approaches to marriage and family for both men and women. Despite the fact that contemporary social conditions offer freedoms in certain areas which allow individuals to build their subjective areas and lets them establish relations in the center of their individual preferences, complex and swiftly changing socio-economic living space, brings with it the certain risks or threats with it. We could say that nowadays the most important problem that individuals have regarding their own life is insecurity and uncertainty due to these same socio-economic dynamics. Individuals are establishing or ending their relations in a social life such as this. Marriage, in this life of chaos, is a system which provides both the satisfaction of emotional needs based on feeling secure against insecurity, and uncertainty, and the realization of rational goals such as security against economic risks. In this study, based on the interviews with the participants, evaluations are made about the changes in the relationship processes related to marriage. In this study, which was built on the qualitative data collection method, 10 people were interviewed and the findings were analyzed contextually.
