Abstract

In today's world where information is diversifying and transforming day by day, the means and methods of accessing information are also changing. This period requires individuals to have various skills related to accessing and using information. Acquiring these skills will make the individual stronger in life and increase their productivity. In professional life, universities play an important role in providing lifelong learning skills. It would be beneficial to include informal activities related to information literacy in the programs or to include information literacy in the course content. Creating an independent course to meet the needs of the professional field is the most important step to ensure advanced information literacy. In this study, a course proposal has been developed to provide basic information literacy skills to train self-learning interior architects based on interior architecture vocational education. The course is associated with the design process in occupational education, supported by sample applications and designed to support all stages of information literacy. The opinions of the experts were obtained through the evaluation form related to the course proposal. Within the framework of the comments received, it was reorganized as a compulsory course instead of an elective course and the course hours were increased.  The development of an independent and compulsory course on information literacy in the field of Interior Architecture will be the most important step toward the acquisition of advanced skills. Therefore, developing information literacy skills will be a lifelong learning skill to solve the problems they encounter in their lives.
