This article has been prepared based on the section “Traces of Turkish deaf and deaf folklore in the fields of media (TV), internet, social media, communication, cinema and advertising”, which is mostly in the 6th part of our doctoral thesis titled “Turkish Deaf and Hearing Impaired Folklore”. The aim of our study is to raise awareness of the language-based culture of Turkish Deaf and Hearing Impaired people through the problems they experience in communication, as well as a strong minority culture emphasis within the hearing mainstream culture in our country.
During our thesis study, besides the meetings we had with the Turkish Deaf and Hearing Impaired associations, federations, confederations, and individuals who achieved firsts in our country and in the world with the method of interviewing and observing, we have been in the society for about 7 years based on our knowledge of TİD (Turkish Sign Language) experiences have been conveyed.
The main purpose of our article is to address the involuntary deficiencies created by communication in order for the deaf/hearing-impaired people in our country to access their citizenship-based equal rights, both within themselves, with the individuals of the hearing society, and before the state, what these deficiencies and problems are, and a solution proposal is also made.
