Abstract

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this research is to measure the knowledge levels of students studying in music education faculties about jazz music and jazz music types. It is research in relational screening because it is aimed to determine the level of knowledge of university students about jazz music and genres and to make comparisons according to various variables. The study group of the research consists of Gazi University, Gazi Education Faculty Music Teaching Department students. The study group consisted of a total of 135 prospective teachers, 68 boys, and 67 girls. While creating the working group, the easily accessible (suitable)  sampling method was used. The level of knowledge of the university students within the scope of the research about jazz music and their genres is low, there is no difference in terms of gender, university students who are interested in jazz music, graduates of the band high school, and the knowledge levels of jazz music and genres of students with high knowledge of jazz music and performers. It was determined to be more than other students.
