Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze the effectiveness of fiscal and monetary policies in the Turkish economy. Two of the main instruments of economic policies are monetary and fiscal policies. Fiscal policies include decisions regarding the management of taxes, expenditures and borrowings in order to achieve the general objectives of public power. In this context, since it is not possible for fiscal and monetary policies to direct the economy alone, it is very important that there is a coordination between both practices and the continuity of this coordination. Therefore, monetary and fiscal policies are of great importance for the growth and development of national economies, ensuring full employment, increasing the living standards of the society and ensuring a stable development in the economy.

Fiscal policies cover issues related to the management of public expenditures, tax practices and borrowing instruments in order for the public authority to achieve the determined economic goals and objectives, while monetary policies cover the practices of the Central Bank on how to manage money and interest rates in order to realize the goals and objectives of the economy. For the growth and development of national economies, monetary and fiscal policies should be determined and implemented according to the conditions of the country. Therefore, in this article, issues related to the effectiveness of fiscal and monetary policies in the Turkish economy are analyzed and the findings and suggestions obtained within the scope of the study are presented to researchers and relevant institutions.
