With the development of technology, applications that make life easier in every field have started to be offered to people. These practices create an environment where cities can provide better services to residents and tourists visiting destinations. Cities and destinations using smart applications use their resources more effectively and gain a competitive advantage. This study, it is tried to determine the distribution of postgraduate theses on smart cities and smart destinations by years and the smart applications discussed in the theses. In this context, postgraduate theses on the subject in the National Thesis Center (YÖKTEZ) were examined. In the study, 150 master's and doctoral theses about smart cities and 17 master's and doctoral theses about smart tourism and destinations were examined between 2012 and 2023. According to the findings of the study; There has been an increase in postgraduate theses over the years. The number of theses is mostly composed of smart cities, and studies on tourism are less common. The Internet of Things (IoT), smart transportation systems, smart parking lots, smart city furniture, and smart city card attract attention.
