Abstract

Mr. İbrahim Sabri is a poet who was born in a period when the Ottoman Empire was nearing the end and lived the last periods of the state. Born as the son of a scholar father, he had a good education. Both his education and his talent have been a means of his success in poetry. The exile life of the poet, who had faced the harsh conditions of his time with his family, continued in Egypt, which started in his early youth. The language and style used by the poet, who collected his poems under the name of Egyptian Dâneleri while he was in Egypt, is close to the divan poetry. The poet's success in using divan poetry mazmuns as well as the Arabic and Persian compositions used in his poems is noteworthy. It can be said that the poet, who has arranged his work called "Egyptian Dâneleri" in divan style, is a follower of divan poetry in terms of the literary arts he uses in his poems. Considering the era in which İbrahim Sabri lived, it is seen that this century, which is the transition period of divan poetry, continues to have an impact on the poets of that period. İbrahim Sabri appears before us as a poet who was influenced by the divan poetry of the period, both due to the general characteristics of the century he lived in and the education he received. In this study, the issues that are parallel to the divan poetry in İbrahim Sabri Bey's work will be emphasized.
