Glitter Silk Embroidery Master: Sema Kayabaşı

Abstract

The silver thread embroidery technique had an important place in palace clothes, young girls' dowries and home accessories in the past, and today it is frequently applied on clothing and home decoration, dowry and touristic items. Since the silver thread embroidery technique is an art that requires a lot of effort and time, it does not receive the attention it deserves both from the masters and the buyers today. Based on this subject, Sema Kayabaşı, one of the silver thread embroidery technique masters who are decreasing today, was chosen as the research subject. In this article, in addition to Sema Kayabaşı's CV, the tools, equipment, technique, and, pattern features she uses in the silver thread technique are reviewed and her works of art are included.
