İkiliklerin Ötesini Düşünmek: Örgütsel Paradokslar Çağında Liderlik

Türkiye'de liderlik uygulamaları, bireyselciliğe karşı kolektivizm, ilişki odaklılığa karşı performans odaklılık ve yüksek belirsizlik düzeyine karşın belirsizlikten kaçınma eğilimi gibi çelişkili görülen kültürel unsurların dengeli bir bileşimini yansıtmaktadır. Çelişkili unsurlar arasında ortaya çıkan bu gerilimi anlayabilmek, paradoks kuramının teorik çerçevesini gerekli kılmaktadır. Bu çalışma, paradoks kuramının unsurlarını temel alarak örgütler alanında paradoksları ne şekilde kavrayabileceğimize yönelik bir çerçeve sunmayı amaçlamaktadır. Örgütler günümüzde yalın çevre dinamikleri ile tanımlanmaktan oldukça uzaktır. Örgütleri etkileyen çevre dinamiklerinde görülen artış örgütsel sistemlerin karmaşıklığını da arttırmaktadır. Sistemdeki karmaşıklık düzeyi, ortaya çıkabilecek paradoksların çeşitliliği ve çokluğu ile yakından alakalıdır. Çalışmada İkarus paradoksu, Abilene paradoksu, güç paradoksu, başarı paradoksu gibi örgütler düzleminde karşılaşılabilecek paradoksların neler olduğu, hangi alanlarda ortaya çıkabileceği ve nasıl aşılabileceğine yönelik çıkarımlar ve stratejiler sunulmaktadır. Çalışmada ayrıca paradoksal durumlar karşısında liderliğin önemi, liderin geleneksel liderlikten farklı olarak taşıması gereken bilişsel ve davranışsal nitelikleri üzerinde durulmuş ve paradoksal liderlik stilinin çalışan davranışları ve örgüt kültürü açısından olası sonuçları tartışılmıştır. Yazında konu ile ilgili oldukça sınırlı çalışmanın varlığını göz önünde bulundurarak, çalışmanın gelecekteki araştırmalar açısından faydalı olacağı düşünülmektedir.
