The transportation sector is an important element of socioeconomic development of a country. In recent years, there have been significant developments in the transportation sector on both global and regional scales. This has contributed to the considerable developments in other public and private sectors, including tourism. The tourism and transportation sectors are closely related to each other, as the one supplements the other. Accordingly, both development and regression in one of these two supplementary sectors has a direct impact on the other’s fate with an ultimate consequence on the country’s economy. In this context, this thesis examines how the cause-effect relationship between transportation and tourism affects Turkey’s economy
