STRATEGIC QUALITY MANAGEMENT PHILOSOPHY: A THEORETICAL EVALUATION

Abstract

While Strategic Quality Management (SQM) enables the determination of the decisions to be taken by the organizations in the future, it also facilitates the motivation of the employees and the choice of strategy. It differs from other management approaches due to its unique features such as tending to create competitive advantage, following a future-oriented path and having a holistic structure. With the understanding of SQM as a new management style, it is foreseen that the understanding of quality in the organization will be strengthened with strategic management, the management will take on a more dynamic structure in the future in the context of a new management philosophy and management approach, thus making the management more effective and efficient. In the study, it is explained in the context of strategic management and Total Quality Management (TQM) that SQM organizations should eliminate the deficiencies in their own structure by taking into account the environmental conditions and that they should constantly renew themselves with a quality-oriented management approach. In this respect, strategic management and Total Quality Management (TQM) contribute positively to the purpose and philosophy of SQM. Therefore, in the study, there is a positive relationship between the success of strategic management in an organization and the goals and objectives that TQM wants to achieve, and this situation reveals a new management philosophy under the name of SQM. The aim of this study is to examine the strategic dimension of the relations between strategic management and TQM, and to examine theoretically what the basic principles and principles of a new management philosophy called SQM can be in organizations. In this context, in this study, it is aimed to explain the concepts of strategic management and TQM, and then the strategic basic features of SQM. While specifying the theoretical features and characteristics of SQM, the study mainly uses the qualitative research method. Descriptive research technique is used in compiling and interpreting the data related to the study through literature. Therefore, it can be said that the study is based on an indirect and citation research method in the context of a qualitative approach.
