The Historical Process of the Color Blue

Abstract

The adventure of colors has survived to the present day by developing and multiplying in the historical process. Colors are a means of expressing many states of communities. In a way, it is like a mirror of the material and spiritual heritage of societies. So much so that various theories about colors have been put forward and there are theories that are still common today. Colors have gained various meanings in different cultures, religions and nations. Today, space designs are made in line with the effects of colors on people. Therefore, medicine uses colors as an alternative healing method in human treatment processes. Color is a kind of perception that occurs when light reaches the retina of the eye in different ways. In his research [1677], Newton succeeded in distinguishing colors by passing sunlight through a diamond prism, so much so that after that process, the science of color was accepted as a science. While colors were obtained by natural means such as animal fat, soil and many different plants in the early ages, today a wide range of colors are produced with advanced technology. The first color palette was revealed as 5 colors by the first artists 40 thousand years ago. These colors are; were black, red, yellow, white and brown. In this research, its emergence, development and the adventure of blue with different variants in the process are discussed. In this adventure, what blue is in physics and its use by artists in the art of painting are examined.
